The 3rd edition includes substantial updates and amendments to the 14 chapters that represent the AP
Psychology curriculum. It has new content in each of the chapters, and updates throughout, based on the most recent
available research. It contains all the information your students will need to excel on the AP Psychology Examination.
The book consists of two parts. The first part contains 14 chapters of comprehensive review material. Each
chapter is followed by entirely new sets of chapter review multiple-choice questions (totaling 195 items) that are
modeled after the actual AP examination. Included in each chapter is a corresponding graphic organizer, containing
key ideas organized in a one page format, designed to help the student in study or review. The second part consists
of 3 brand new full-length simulated exams, each of which includes 100 multiple-choice questions and 2 free-response
questions.
The 14 chapters in the first part of the book are:
- Statistics and Research Methodology
- Biological Bases of Behavior
- Sensation and Perception
- States of Consciousness
- Learning Theory
- Cognition Part I: Memory
- Cognition Part II: Thought and Language
- Developmental Psychology
- Motivation and Emotion
- Personality Theory
- Testing and Individual Differences
- Abnormal Psychology
- Treatment
- Social Psychology
Each class order is accompanied by a
FREE Teacher’s Manual, which contains explanations for all of the multiple-choice
and free-response questions along with a model answer for each free-response question. The third edition is
a collaboration, which allowed us not only to add significantly to the student text but also to completely rework the
accompanying Teacher’s Manual. It now includes suggested unit progressions, links between units, mnemonic
devices and detailed descriptions of teaching activities and demonstrations for each chapter. Additionally, separate
student answer keys for the multiple-choice section are included with each book.
The questions in this book simulate the actual examination. Your students will benefit from both the challenge
and excellent practice this book provides, ensuring a top grade on the AP Psychology Examination. Why not give
your students the edge?
The two authors of the book are Michael Sullivan and Mike Hamilton, both AP Psychology teachers at
Hopkinton High School in Massachusetts. Michael Sullivan served four years on the AP Psychology Test
Development Committee and in 2000 was honored by the American Psychological Association with the Moffett
Award, given for excellence in the teaching of psychology. He has also been a Reader for the AP Psychology exam.
Mike Hamilton is currently a Reader and is also serving on the board for the Teachers of Psychology in Secondary
Schools (TOPSS). Both have presented at various regional and national conferences on the teaching of psychology.
Here is what some of your colleagues had to say about our previous editions of the AP Psychology book:
“The book is well written and takes the confusion out of the psychological terminology. The graphic organizers are
very effective.”
John A. Meyer / Pago HS, Greensboro, NC
"Very 'user friendly.' Students liked the explanations and the check-up quizzes for each section. The format of the
sample exams is quite similar to the AP exam itself, so students fell familiar with the testing format.”
Patrick Harris / San Clemente HS, San Clemente, CA
“Great test questions and information.”
Karen Cohen / Walled Lake Western HS, Walled Lake, MI
“I liked the summary sections for each subject and the exams were also very good.”
Megan Bryant / Grossmont HS, El Cajon, CA
