We are pleased to announce the publication of a new 5th edition of MULTIPLE-CHOICE AND FREE-RESPONSE QUESTIONS IN PREPARATION FOR THE AP UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS EXAMINATION.

This book assists students in assessing their level of understanding of both basic concepts and factual information in United States government and politics. The questions simulate as closely as possible the AP United States Government and Politics Examination administered each year in May by the College Board. The book consists of three parts. Part I consists of an overview of the United States Government Course and Examination. Part II of the book presents a 16 chapter narrative review and questions grouped by topics, and Part III presents four practice exams of 60 multiple-choice questions and 4 free-response questions each that include concepts and facts in the following proportions as recommended by the College Board:

  1. Constitutional underpinnings of democracy in the United States 5-15%
  2. Political beliefs and behaviors of individuals 10-20%
  3. Political parties, interest groups, and mass media 10-20%
  4. Institutions of national government: the Congress, the Presidency, and the Federal Courts 35-45%
  5. Public Policy 5-15%
  6. Civil rights and civil liberties 5-15%

The book prepares the students for both the multiple-choice and free-response portions of the AP Examination. The narrative review will help students understand the concepts that multiple-choice questions and essays cover.

The author is Ethel Wood, a teacher of AP Government and Politics at Princeton High School in Princeton, New Jersey since 1989, and a table leader and question leader for the Exam since 1995.

Each class order is accompanied by a FREE Teacher's Manual that contains explanations for all multiple-choice questions, and scoring guidelines for all free-response questions in the book. Student Answer Keys for the multiple-choice questions are separately packaged.
